A development group led by Cerner Corp. executives has been approved for $10.7 million in state tax credits for an office park proposed for the former Bannister Mall property in south Kansas City.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A major employer’s move across the state line from Lenexa, Kan., into Kansas City, Mo., became official on Tuesday. Governor Jay Nixon and Mayor Sly James welcomed shipping logistics company Freightquote to south Kansas City at a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning.
The Marine Corps is staying in Kansas City, preserving more than 400 high-paying civilian jobs for at least the next 30 years.
Kansas City beat out New Orleans for the long term offices of the Marine Corps information technology center. The Marines’ decision extends its commitment to Kansas City well beyond its current lease that expires in 2017.
