Please join us to hear directly from KCMO Mayor Quinton Lucas who is speaking about his newest initiatives to stimulate economic growth, improve public safety and strengthen our neighborhoods and how these initiatives will benefit south Kansas City at our South Kansas City Alliance public meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, November 10, in the front building of the South Patrol Police Campus, 9701 Marion Park Dr.

Mayor Lucas will respond to questions and comments from the audience and will welcome suggestions on how city services can continue to be improved citywide and in our area.

Jackson County Legislature Vice Chair Donna Peyton will speak about the immediate steps Jackson County is taking to transition from an appointed to an elected county assessor to be in charge of the reassessments of county residents’ homes and businesses which have a direct impact on property taxes following the overwhelming voter approval November 4 of an amendment to the county charter to make the county assessor an elected position directly accountable to the voters following a lengthy controversy over steeply rising reassessments of many homes and small businesses.

Voting members of the SKCA will vote on reelecting volunteer members of the SKCA Board whose two-year terms are expiring. The slate of Board members whose terms are expiring and who were nominated for reelection by the Nominating Committee chaired by SKCA Vice President Sherwood Smith and recommended for retention by the Board are: John Carmichael, Stacy Carrow, Kesi Milligan, Reginald Silvers, Bruce Wieseler, Johnnie Wilson and K.B. Winterowd.

Nominations of current SKCA members for Board positions also will be considered at the meeting.  There is currently one vacant position on the Board that is authorized to have up to 15 members by the bylaws.
