City accepting applications for 2022 Home Repair Program

Kansas City, Missouri, residents unable to afford vital home repairs can apply for the city’s 2022 Home Repair Program, beginning today. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and applicants must meet HUD income guidelines. Applications will be accepted through June 3, and applications filed from previous years will not be accepted.
Applications can be picked up on the 19th floor lobby of City Hall, 414 E. 12th St., or at the following locations:
- Southeast Community Center: 3400 E 63rd St.
- Lucile H. Bluford Library: 3050 Prospect Ave.
- Gregg/Klice Community Center: 1600 E 17th Terr.
Completed applications can be submitted by email at CHR@kcmo.org, or hand delivered to the Home Repair drop box on the 19th floor lobby of City Hall or by USPS. You also can apply online on the Housing webpage.
A variety of plumbing, electrical, roofing and mobility-related projects are covered including main water lines, sewer mains and drain lines, main panel electrical work and new roof installation. To see a complete list of eligible projects, go to the city’s website. Applicants must meet all guidelines listed on the application form.
This service is being offered to single-family homeowners who have not received home repair services from the city in the last five (5) years. The program does not service rental property, mobile homes, duplexes, or multi-family dwellings.
This is one of many services the city offers homeowners in need. Others include:
- Paint Program applications begin May 2 and are accepted until funding is depleted. This program provides free paint and supplies to qualifying homeowners living in Kansas City, Missouri. There is no income requirement for this program.
- Targeted City Home Repair Program applications will be accepted between May 2 and June 3. This program assists homeowners living in targeted areas as identified in the city’s Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan. Eligible residents located in these areas will receive a choice of two repairs. Residents can call (816) 513-3025 to confirm they live in an eligible location. The specific neighborhoods are:

- Santa Fe
- Boston Heights
- Oak Park
- South Roundtop
- Ruskin
- Marlborough
- Blue Hills
- Wendell Phillips
- Funding for Community Development Corporations to provide a variety of assistance options to homeowners in need:
- Westside Housing Organization
- Northland Neighborhoods Inc.
- Ivanhoe Neighborhoods
- The Whole Person
