Pinnacle Winds, Kansas City’s professional concert band, announces the first concert of its fifth season to occur on Sunday, February 16, 2025, beginning at 2:00 pm in the beautiful sanctuary of the Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene at 11811 State Line Road in Kansas City, Missouri. The concert is entitled “A Mighty Wind,” and features two wind band masterworks rarely heard on the same program. Paul Hindemith’s spectacular Symphony in Bb and Percy A. Grainger’s musical bouquet Lincolnshire Posy will be performed along with other selections, including Early Light by Carolyn Bremer, Finale by Zdenek Lukas, and Sousa’s Bullets and Bayonets March. Also to be presented is the world premiere of a new fanfare written for Pinnacle Winds by noted composer John Dupuis. Dr. John C. Carmichael will serve as conductor for the concert. It will be a challenging, exciting, emotionally moving, and enjoyable presentation performed by some of the most accomplished instrumentalists in the Kansas City area. Admission for adults is $20.00 and for seniors or students, $10.00. Tickets are available on our website and at the door on the day of the concert. Season tickets are offered on the website, and thanks to a gracious donor, if you buy one, you will get a second at no cost.
