Position Overview
This position requires that you will conduct and manage initial inspections and send courtesy letters to residents and owners of properties reported to the City of Kansas City’s 311 Action Center for property maintenance and/or nuisance violations. Primary duties will include creating efficient travel routes to inspect properties, generating weekly reports of cases that have been abated and those that have not that need to be forwarded to a City Codes Officer, and taking phone calls from residents and owners of reported properties.
Initial inspections will consist of driving by the property and taking pictures from the street of at least three sides of the property and determining if there are any property maintenance or nuisance code violations present.
This position requires that you have a reliable vehicle along with current auto liability insurance coverage and a current Missouri or Kansas state driver’s license.
This position requires that you attend and pass the City of Kansas City’s Codes Academy. This cost will be covered by the SKCA.
Through your duties you will gain knowledge of the City of Kansas City’s property maintenance and nuisance ordinances and learn more about the services the City of Kansas City offers to residents. You also will become more familiar with the community and gain experience working with and assisting residents of the City of Kansas City.
