SKCA Economic Development Summit Program BookView Fullscreen
The theme of this year’s summit, “Planning for our Future Neighbors”, reflects the organization’s efforts to promote attractive housing and retail options for the thousands of new employees coming to new developments in south Kansas City such as the Cerner Corporation’s Innovations Campus at the site of the former Bannister Mall.
The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
The summit will include panel discussions about major new commercial developments in south Kansas City, the successes of area businesses and housing developments, and government programs designed to assist residential and commercial development.
The target audience for the summit includes home builders and residential developers, Realtors, present and future business owners and managers, neighborhood leaders and activists and all interested area residents.
“With thousands of new employees coming to south Kansas City, we want to make sure we
have the type of housing options and retail services they desire,” said Stacey Johnson-Cosby,
SKCA president. “We don’t want them to just work here. We want them to shop and live here
as well. We also want to make sure that we build on the number of restaurants and services offered to our current neighbors.”
The SKCA is a volunteer-led non-profit organization that includes members from neighborhood organizations and the business, civic and faith communities.
