SKCA September 2026 Meeting

Please attend our important public meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, September 14, in the community room in the front building of the South Patrol Police Campus, 9701 Marion Park Dr., and hear a factual presentation about the proposed 10-year renewal of the quarter-cent Jackson County COMBAT anti-crime/anti-drug sales tax that will be on the November 3 ballot.

Joseph Loudon, communications administrator for the COMBAT Commission, will present the facts about COMBAT’s countywide anti-crime and anti-drug efforts, particularly its efforts to curtail trafficking of deadly fentanyl, and answer audience questions.

Although the small quarter-cent sales tax only generates 25 cents for every $100.00 of purchases, it brings in about $30 million countywide annually to fund COMBAT’s anti-crime and anti-drug efforts according to COMBAT Director Murray Woodard II.

Also speaking about the upcoming improvements to KCMO’s sanitary sewer system and the timeline for implementing them due to voter approval August 4 of a KCMO no tax increase revenue bond issue to rehabilitate and expand the system will be Noah Pfeffer, project engineer for the KCMO Water Department’s Smart Sewer Division, who also will respond to audience questions.

Other public officials usually attend these public meetings to keep the audiences up to date about other new developments that can impact our community, and members of the public always are welcome to attend.

Please remember Bannister Rd. is closed at U.S. 71 Highway due to the reconstruction & widening of the highway bridges over Bannister, so it is best for people who don’t live near Bannister east of U.S. 71 to take I-435 to Bannister and then go west on Bannister to Marion Park Dr., or to drive north on U.S. 71 and then turn east on Bannister to Marion Park Dr.
